Is Ruger AR-556 any good?

All things considered, the Ruger AR-556 is one of the most reliable rifles you can buy. This rifle is basically an entry-level AR, with some adjustments. The handguard is basic, and the rifle is comfortable to shoot.

Tested in less-than-perfect conditions, this rifle proved to keep a consistent shot at all times. There wasn’t anything we could identify as a problem. All in all, the AR-556 has exceptional accuracy potential if you can do your part.

Next, since the AR-556 has a small trigger guard, you won’t have to worry about it accidentally firing off. Additionally, you can still fit your fingers in the trigger opening even with gloved hands.

Our rating

The Ruger AR-556 is as reliable a rifle as you can get. From performance to safety, it deserves all 10.0 points.

The price of the Ruger AR-556

Ultimately, we can say that we are extremely pleased with all that this rifle has to offer. From the looks to the reliability, there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t like. In all honesty, we would be surprised if anyone that purchased this AR would have difficulty using it.

Now, let’s get down to the price tag. Since this rifle has so many great features, and it’s difficult to find any fault in its overall performance of it, the price must be through the roof, right? Wrong.

Our rating

Yet again, Ruger succeeded in impressing us. The Ruger AR-556 is priced between $670 and $720! This makes it accessible to everyone, and for that, we give it, yet again – 10.0 points!

Preciate the patience you all exercise on me Thanks

  3. Steve Koeman

it is small enough to add accessories, such as a light, and still be easy to grip. I was a bit surprised at this, but the firearm’s accuracy was much better than I had anticipated with a 10 5-inch barrel. You do tend to suffer with extra loudness with a barrel that short, but the accuracy obviously did not suffer

  4. Carl J. C

The RUGER AR-556 pistol chambered in . 300 Blackout with a 10.5 barrel, a Black finish, & telescoping risk is exactly as advertised and what I wanted. 1st, A company with a good reputation for producing good guns. 2nd A caliber that was designed for

  5. Pat Cascio

For my accuracy testing, I placed a target put to 50 yards, and used a big boulder as a rest — it worked perfectly – the bottom of the magazine fit nicely into a groove in the boulder. Once I had the red do sight adjusted, and started firing, I was getting groups slightly over an inch and a half with most ammo. If I was on my game, I could get few groups right close to 1-inch – that is outstanding for a pistol. The gun is good to go, as- is right now for self-defense

  6. Jon Wayne Taylor

Better than any of the guns the Army ever issued to me, but right on par with commercial offering in this price range. A decent gun at a decent price. The non-standard BCG is both a feature and bug, so that washes out on the rating

  7. Grapevine

Added a Romeo 5 site, took to the range. Accurate and reliable. Highly recommend

  8. Kelvin FROM PHILADELPHIA

Swapped out the 10.5 for a 7.5 and a quad rail. Got about 1000 rounds through it right now, kinda regretting that tho since the price of ammo has gone up substantially. Not a single issue. No failure to feed, stove pipes, not a thing. Trigger was a little stiff in the beginning, but after around 500rounds,it got smooth

  9. Ellijay. FROM GA🇺🇲

After receiving my AR pistol, I installed an Eotac sight, really quick to pick up and accurate in fact this pistol is amazing accurate using the Eotac and the bench rest I was able to place shots in 1.5/1.25 in at 100trds not bad for a 10.5bbl. Note to any BATF officer reading these reviews, at no time was the brace used as a shoulder stock

  10. EL paso, From, TX🇺🇲

Great pistol, feels tight the action is amazing. More than I expected. Quality Ruger product at affordable price. Ruger and SOSS are winning combo

  11. Bruce

    Best Bang for the Bucks!

  12. Cottage Grove

Very satisfied with my new pistol and the customer service I experienced

  13. Johnny Sod

Purchase this pistol sight unseen and it is really great. I like it so much that I just purchased 2 more of them. I did do a lots of research on them before I made this purchase and I could not find any negative comments but it at all .
Ruger had been around a long time and I expect that this pistol will be too. Ammorsportsmanshop does a wonderful job of shipping it when they say they will and the receiving FFL folks had no problems. Will purchase from them again if I ever have money after this 2nd purchase.
